Newly appointed Governor of Chhattisgarh and former senior BJP leader Balramji Dass Tandon was on Monday honoured by senior leaders of the ruling SAD-BJP and the opposition Congress in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Gallery.
Tandon, a BJP stalwart, who remained minister in Punjab Government many times and also served the party while remaining on different positions shares a high status among political classes across the region and high regard.
Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Charanjit Atwal, BJP state chief Kamal Sharma, Education Minister Daljeet Cheema, leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar were also present on the occasion alongwith other senior MLAs from all parties.
Praising Tandon’s remarkable contribution in the spreading up of BJP in Punjab, state BJP chief Kamal Sharma said that it was only because of the hard work and dedication by party workers like Tandon that party’s base has increased across the country.
“Tandon ji has always been a torch bearer for the state unit of the party because of his experience and pulse he is having for the Punjab politics. His elevation to the post of Governor is an honour for the entire state,” said Kamal Sharma.
Deputy CM, Sukhbir Badal, termed Tandon a visionary leader and appreciated his contribution to the state as minister and as a leader of the BJP. Jakhar, stated that because of high wisdom, Tandon is having high respect in all political spheres and is contribution in the development of Punjab was immense.
