Taking necessary steps to resolve Industry Issues
A CII industry delegation participated in a meeting convened by Department of Commerce & Industry, presided by Ms Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab at Chandigarh today. It was a follow up meeting called by the State Government to a previous discussion held on 19 September 2019 facilitated by CII at Jalandhar. The meeting was primarily focused on the issues of Jalandhar Industry such as Capping of Power Tariffs for Industry, Investment based Fees levied by PPCB, Processing of Incentive cases under FIIP(R) 2013, Labour Laws, Providing Infrastructure at upcoming Industrial Areas and many more.
Ms Mahajan assured that the Department of Industries & Commerce will take all the necessary steps to resolve the grievances put forth by Jalandhar industry members and instructed the sectoral representatives to do the needful within specified timelines. She also encouraged CII to disseminate the required information about various policies, reformatory measures & schemes offered by the State Government to its members. CII should also share industry feedback in order to make the entire framework more effective & useful for the stakeholders. A special mention was made about the random shop floor inspection policy and how the Punjab industries are reacting to it.
Mr Rajat Agarwal, CEO, Invest Punjab and Mr V K Janjua, Principal Secretary, Department of Labour, Government of Punjab were also present during the deliberations along with other senior officials from PSIEC, Power, Pollution Board, Health Department, etc.
Ms Mahajan also invited the delegation to take part in the forthcoming Progressive Punjab Investor’s Summit scheduled on 5-6 December 2019 and informed that the same shall focus on facilitating the growth of the MSME sector.
