With a view to bringing qualitative improvement in the health services of Chhattisgarh, the Centre today decided to establish two important institutions in the state. The decision was taken at a significant meeting here between Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan. During the meeting, it was decided that one out of 12 super specialty hospitals announced in budget under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) will come up in Bilaspur. Under the project, CIMS, Bilaspur will be upgraded to super specialty hospital at the cost of Rs 150 crore.

The chief minister invited the union minister to visit the state next month. The union minister accepted the invitation and also expressed his desire to see a detailed presentation on activities of AIIMS and various health schemes in the state. He also said that a rural health checkup centre will also start in a development block in Chhattisgarh. He stressed on the need to open a rural research centre for eradication of various diseases in SC/ST dominated areas of the state. The chief minister apprised the union minister of various health related schemes in Chhattisgarh. He discussed ‘phulwari scheme’ Mukhyamantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna and topic of sickle cell in detail.  Principal Secretary to CM Shri Aman Kumar Singh, Resident Commissioner Smt. B V Uma Devi and OSD Shri Vikram Sisodia were also present at the meeting.
