Haryana Governor-Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya has said the process of learning new things and adopting newer technologies for teaching should continue in universities, which will not only further enrich professors intellectually but will also ensure that students get quality education on the campuses.

Shri Dattatreya was on Monday addressing Vice Chancellors and Registrar of the state universities in a one-day virtual workshop from the Raj Bhavan. This workshop was attended by Vice Chancellors and Registrars of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, Bhagat Phool Singh University, Sonepat and Indira Gandhi University, Mirpur.

They shared details of academic and other related activities of their respective university during the workshop. Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan, Secretary to Governor Shri Atul Dwivedi, Director, Higher Education, Shri Rajiv Ratan, Additional Director, Higher Education, Shri Hemant Verma and other senior officers were present in the workshop.

The Governor-Chancellor in his address emphasized on promoting entrepreneurship, start-up, innovation and research culture on the campuses for which upgradation of facilities and better academic environment should be created. He said that students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and women should be given more attention. Moral values and leadership qualities should also be inculcated among them.

He said that for skill development it is necessary to have collaborations with industries and incubation centres should be set up in universities. Similarly, a fine-tuned placement mechanism should be put in place. For this, full cooperation of university alumni should be taken. He said that the Central government is spending Rs 51 thousand crore to ensure the students get employment in the country itself.

The Governor-Chancellor said that apart from preparing a fixed schedule of academic sessions in the universities, there is a need for comprehensive improvement in the work related to examination and results. Under the new National Education Policy, digitization of education has become very important for which the application of Internet of Things, Robotics, and Blockchain Technology should be explored. He called upon universities to prepare projects which will contribute towards making Haryana self-reliant.

Shri Dattatraya said that youth should be used to eradicate social evils like drug, crime and dowry system by launching the campaign with their help in rural and urban areas. Make the optimum use of youth power by involving them in plantation, environmental protection activities, water conservation, and cleanliness, creating awareness about digital and fit India.

The Governor-Chancellor said that in order to make youths aware of freedom fighters, historical events related to our freedom struggle movement, they should be engaged in programs of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav so that they make their contributions in making a new India.
