Haryana Governor-Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya has said that courses related to skill development should be started in all government and private universities of the state so that students get employment oriented vocational education. He was interacting with Gurugram University Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar, who had made a courtesy call on him at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

Shri Dattatraya said that for the courses related to skill development of students, universities should take the benefits of Central and State government’s schemes and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. He also stressed on starting vocational courses in private colleges affiliated to the university. He said that in collaboration with SAP institutions, university and college teachers and students should be trained with a new ecosystem.

He said that job oriented courses will have a better success rate in educational institutions in the National Capital Region because facilities related to training can be provided to the students in the area by joining hands with private sector manufacturing companies. By getting practical education along with classroom learning exposure, the talent of students can be further polished. They can also be encouraged to be entrepreneurs, he said.

The Governor-Chancellor said that according to the National Education Policy-2020, all universities should start new vocational and short-term courses keeping in mind the local demand, which will make it easier for students to get employment. He also inquired about the construction of the new campus of Gurugram University and added the construction work should start soon.

Prof Kumar, Gurugram University Vice Chancellor, said that preparations have been made to start various courses related to Artificial Intelligence, Computer, Machine Learning, and skill development in the university. He said the process of getting the university registered in 12-A has also been started so that the university would get more grants under the schemes of the Central government and CSR.

Prof Kumar explained in detail about the master plan related to the construction of the university campus and said that in the first phase pharmacy and administrative blocks are to be constructed. This construction is likely to start soon. He assured Governor-Chancellor Shri Dattatraya that no stone will be left unturned in making Gurugram University a centre of excellence.
