State gives financial assistance to couples who go for inter-caste marriage
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Ramdas Athawale highly appreciated the works undertaken by the Haryana Government for the families belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes and said that the government has done several works in the direction of socially and financially empowering the people.
Mr. Athawale was addressing a press conference after presiding over meeting with the officers of the Haryana Government, here today. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Mrs. Neerja Sekhar, Director, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Mrs. Geeta Bharati and other senior officials.
The Union Minister said that the number of people belonging to Scheduled Caste in Haryana is 20 per cent and Divyangjans are approximately 6.50 lakh. He said that the pension of Rs 2,000 per month given as social security pension is commendable.
He said that in Haryana, the State Government gives financial assistance of Rs 2.50 lakhs to couples, who go for inter-caste marriage. He said that the work of cleaning the sewerage is very risky. The employees going into the sewer for cleaning should wear all the safety equipment. If the contractor asks them to go in the sewer without any safety equipment and any accident occurs then the contractor will be fined Rs two lakh besides a provision has been made for two-year imprisonment.
He said that in order to ensure that the amount given under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme to children belonging to scheduled caste families, the funds are directly deposited to the beneficiaries bank account, which is highly appreciable.
Giving information about the schemes launched by the Central Government for the poor people under the leadership of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, Mr. Athawale said that 7.31 crore people have benefitted under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in the entire country and 35.92 crore bank accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana. These schemes have benefited all the sections of people, castes and religions of the country.
He said that the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas Aur Sabka Vishwas’ will give further progress to the country. Appreciating the Central Government’s plan for linking the rivers, he said that it will help people to get relief from drought and also save them from floods.
