The Art of Living, Punjab and Chandigarh body held a press conference on Tuesday at Press Club, Sector 27 to announce a series of events scheduled during Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Punjab tour from October 18-22, 2013. The events being held all over the state aim to reach out to the rural youth and farmers in particular and also common people and scores of devotees. The key focus of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s visit will be addressing masses on three social issues concerning the region including drug de-addiction, female foeticide and facilitating organic farming among farmers. A huge event, in which all tricity residents and devotees from other states are invited, is “Aashirvaad-Gyan Ki Lehar” being held at Leisure Valley, sector 10 Chandigarh onOctober 22, which comprises a musical evening accompanied by discourse by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He is also scheduled to visit Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Mandi Gobindgarh, Ludhiana and Patiala during his Punjab tour. A state level youth program titled “Volunteer for Better Punjab” will take place at Anandpur Sahib in SGPC Ground on October 19 morning to address youth from all over the state. The event aims to empower youngsters to tackle the menace of drugs and female foeticide by providing practical solutions, along with the assistance of state government.
Addressing the media persons Umesh Ghai, Chairman, Punjab & Chandigarh Apex Body, Art of Living, Vyakti Vikas Kendra India (VVKI) said, “The Art of Living family in Punjab and Chandigarh have been very actively working on diverse areas of society, from empowering urban youngsters by training them to meditate and initiate them to social work to working closely with jail inmates and organising free camps for slum children and other under privileged sections of society. Lakhs of devotees are keenly looking forward to the visit of their spiritual master.
