Spain: All citizens will now be able to travel on public transport system for free

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has gifted passengers free travel in trains. National Rail Operator Renfe will be allowed to travel free of cost from 1st September to 31st December for travel of less than 300 kms. In this, those traveling long distance and single journey tickets will not get this facility.

According to a statement issued by the Spanish Ministry of Transport, the public transport system is being promoted to save fuel and energy and prevent prices from rising. Last month, Germany also decided to issue monthly unlimited travel tickets for $10.

The Spanish government is making public transport systems available to its citizens for free or at very low rates to relieve inflation and reduce energy expenditure. PLC/GT
