New Delhi.  According to the latest observations by the India Meteorological Department, the Southwest monsoon has further advanced today, the 21st June 2009, into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The northern limit of monsoon today passes through (Lat. 18.0°N/ Long. 70.0°E) Alibagh, Pune, Solapur, Hyderabad, Kalingapatnam, Paradip, Bankura and Gangtok. This indicates that the conditions are favourable for rains over some more parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, remaining parts of Karnataka and some more parts of Andhra Pradesh during next 2-3 days.

Heat wave conditions are, however, likely to continue over some parts of north Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, east Rajasthan and Orissa during next 48 hours.
