INVC, Cap Town, Central to exciting nightlife and entertainment, One&Only Cape Town is an ideal gateway to the uniquely rare adventures of South Africa such as wildlife safaris, wine country excursions and endless water play along pristine beaches. Air adventures : Skydiving, hang-gliding and paragliding, each offering some of the best views of South Africa's dramatic coast and lush hinterland. Stay inside an aircraft, be whirled and twirled above the Winelands as part of an aerobatic display. Cape Point : Cape Point is a spectacular, narrow finger of land, covered in endemic fynbos and home to picturesque bays, beaches, rolling green hills and valleys. Cape Point falls within the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage Site, and is the most southerly point within the Good Hope section of Table Mountain National Park. Fynbos, meaning “fine bush”, is a unique and strikingly beautiful group of flora endemic to a small section of the Western Cape of South Africa. Exclusive Surfing Lessons & Tours : Experience the great surf Southern Africa has to offer, surrounded by the most breathtaking landscapes. Novices don’t have to be skilled to succeed - with a personal surf instructor one can experience the thrill of standing and gliding on your first wave! Also offering tailored surf packages for intermediate and advanced surfers. If surfing is too extreme, try Stand Up Paddle Boarding at one of Cape Town’s safest paddle boarding locations. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens : The beautiful Kirstenbosch gardens cover an area of 528 hectares with 36 hectares of cultivated garden. The gardens are a celebration of South African flora - showcasing only indigenous South African plants. Fynbos, proteas, cycads and rolling lawns are intermingled with streams and ponds and well-laid out pathways for easy walking. Markets & Township Tours : A visit to one of the many townships surrounding the city is an experience that will open the way in which the biggest portion of Cape Town’s population is living. Despite difficult circumstances and poor living conditions, experience the vibrancy and spirit of the South African people. Robben Island : The famous Robben Island, whose prison was once home to former South African president Nelson Mandela as well as many other black political freedom fighters, is now a World Heritage Site and provides stunning views across the bay with Table Mountain as its backdrop. A trip to the island is an unforgettable experience and offers a glimpse into the life and times of the apartheid era. Shark Cage Diving & Photographic Marine Seafaris : South Africa has a wealth of shark viewing and diving opportunities and top of the list is the Great White Shark encounters one can experience. It is believed that there are less than 5,000 Great White Sharks left on the planet, and recent estimates suggest that 2,000 of these are to be found in South African waters. The water is cold, but it's well worth the experience. Amateurs can participate in diving courses - these can be arranged from a variety of surf and dive shops around the city. One&Only Cape Town’s preferred partner Apex Shark Expeditions, headed by Great White Shark expert, author and wildlife photographer Chris Fallows offers a variety of excursions. For those more pressed for time, the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront also offers shark cage diving. Simon's Town Penguins : Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat. Boulders is an ideal stop to include with a Cape Point Tour. Table Mountain : Table Mountain and surrounding mountain ranges boast the best environs for rock climbing, abseiling and kloofing. For gentler mountain activities, be thrilled with the Peninsula's variety of mountain bike and hiking trails. There's something for all fitness levels. On November 11, 2011, Table Mountain was named among the New 7 Wonders of Nature, following a lengthy international public voting process. Get to the top of Cape Town’s most famous icon in just five minutes by taking a cable car up, or spend the better part of your day hiking it. Table Mountain is known for its rich bio-diversity and is home to over 1500 species of plants (more than the number found throughout the entire British Isles), most of them fynbos, which forms one of the world’s six plant kingdoms all on its own. At its highest point, Table Mountain reaches 1 085m (3 560ft) and affords views all the way to Robben Island and beyond. Wine Tasting : With towering mountains as their backdrop, the winelands towns offer history, spectacular scenery, outdoor activities and award winning restaurants for elegant or casual dining, all within a 45-minute drive of Cape Town city centre. Whale Watching : Approximately an hour and a half away from Cape Town is the seaside town of Hermanus. Hermanus is hailed as offering the best land based whale watching in the world. From May onwards Southern Right Whales pay homage to these warm, shallow waters in order to calf their young and to mate. The best time for whale watching is between August and November and at this time the bay is dotted with whales. Southern Right Whales can be found along the coast from Simons Town through to Hermanus.
