While continuing its focus on educational and social aspects of the girls, the  Haryana Government today decided that on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations on January 26 next, the most educated physically challenged girls, preferably the visually challenged, if there is any  in a village, across the state will unfurl the National Flag at school-level celebrations.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of all Administrative Secretaries  presided over by Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal here today to review the preparations of programmes and events to be held during the Swaran Jayanti year of the state. In case of more than one   physically challenged girl in a village, one who has higher percentage of disability would be given the opportunity to hoist the National Flag on Republic Day.
It was also decided that to give impetus to promote  girls education, the Chief Minister would inaugurate the buildings of Government Colleges for Women already constructed in the State and also lay the foundation stone of new Government Colleges for Women on January 22, 2017. It was on the same day in the year 2015 that the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi had launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Programme from Panipat.
The Chief Minister directed that during the Swaran Jayanti Year, special seminars should be organized to sensitize the youth about the ill effects of drugs. He said that the parents of those youth who  either take drugs or used   to take drugs earlier should also be invited in the seminars so that they could assist the State Government in its drive against this menace by giving their suggestions.  Also, he directed that special programmes should be designed for the helpless, old, destitute and orphans in the State so as to ensure their participation in the Swarna Jayanti celebrations.
While reviewing the progress of the ‘Swarna Jayanti Parks’ to be developed in the State, the Chief Minister directed the officers of Urban Local Bodies Department to initially identify those two or three parks  with the help  of concerned Municipalities  which are not property maintained and these be  redesigned by naming them as Swarna Jayanti Parks. The Chief Minister also asked the Administrative Secretaries to share the best practices adopted by their departments in the field of good governance and compile the same in the form of a book. He said that some new online services would be launched on the occasion of Good Governance Day on December 25.
Emphasising the participation of the people in Swaran Jayanti celebrations, the Chief Minister said that the programmes and events should have a social impact on the people. Apart from this, such programmes should not be confined to selected places in the State instead these should be held in every corner of the State so as to ensure that  people  of all areas   acquaint  themselves with the rich culture and heritage of Haryana. He also directed to make sure that all artists having experience in the field of traditional art get an opportunity to showcase their talent. He also directed to popularize the use of logo of Swaran Jayanti. On this it was informed that SAMWAD society of Information, Public Relations and Languages Department is in the process of finalizing the design of file covers and spiral books on which the logo of Swaran Jayanti would be inscribed. Apart from this, various schemes of the State Government would also be published on the last page of the spiral books.
It was informed that Heritage Cultural Fest would be organized in the State from December 17, 2016 to October 31, 2017. India’s popular artistes including Shovana Narayan, Ahmad Warsi, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and Anupriya Deotale would participate in this festival. In all, about 266 programmes would be organized during this period. Apart from this, Swarna Jayanti Urdu Litterateurs Sammelan would be held at Panipat on the occasion of Altaf Hussain Hali’s Birth Anniversary on January 1, 2017. Similarly, Swarna Jayanti State Level Theater Festival would be organized in all districts of the State from January 7 to 9, 2017 and Swarna Jayanti Pravasi Haryana Divas would be organized at Gurugram on January 11, 2017. Also, Swarna Jayanti National Youth Festival would be organized from January 12,   to   17, 2017.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also reviewed   the preparedness for the upcoming International Gita Jayanti Samaroh to be held at Kurukshetra from December 6 to 10, 2016.
Among those present in the meeting included Haryana Chief Secretary Mr D.S. Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Swaran Jayanti Celebrations Authority of Haryana Dr K.K. Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Mrs Dheera Khandelwal.
