SMC teachers will not be replaced by regular Teachers : Virbhadra Singh
INVC NEWS Shimla, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said a policy would be formulated for teachers recruited through School Management Committee (SMC) and added that they would not be replaced by regular teachers in their place of posting henceforth, keeping in view the services rendered by them in hard and tribal areas of the State. He was presiding over the convention organized by School Management Committee (SMC) Teachers Association, here today. The Chief Minister said that all other genuine demands of the teachers would be fulfilled after discussion with them. He assured them that the issue of preparation of leave calendar for SMC teachers would be resolved soon. He said that SMC teachers association was the brain child of Congress government with the intention that no child was bereft of education in far flung and tribal areas of the state. He lauded the efforts of SMC teachers in spreading the light of education in these areas. State Youth Congress President, Shri Vikramaditya Singh, while addressing the gathering said that the grievances of the SMC teachers would be addressed on priority. The prime focus of the government has remained to strengthen the education sector coupled with the dream of the Chief Minister to take Himachal to new heights in field of education. The dream of Chief Minister was supplemented by the efforts of SMC teachers, he said. He said that it was the Congress government in its previous regime, which devised a plan for appointing SMC teachers in far flung and tribal areas of the state where regular teachers were reluctant to go and SMC teachers played a pivotal role in imparting education to children in such areas. He said that the government was alive to the problems of Para Teachers, PAT, Computer teachers, PTA and SMC teachers. He said that the decision of framing a contractual policy for outsource employees and absorbing them as regular employees was a bold step by the government. He also supported the demands of enhancement of honorarium of SMC teachers and not to replace them on joining of regular teachers at their place of posting. Earlier, President SMC, Anil Pitaan welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister. On behalf of SMC, which were around 4000 in number, the Association demanded for formulating a permanent policy for SMC teachers and not to replace them on joining of regular teachers, besides enhancement of honorarium and leave period. Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Vinay Kumar, MLA Shri Mohan Lal Bragta, BCC, President, Shimla Rural, Sh. Chandershekhar Sharma, Director, Higher Education, Sh. B.L. Binta, Director, Elementary, Sh. Manmohan Singh were present on the occasion amongst others.
