Sheetala Ashtami 2023: Fasting is very important in Hinduism. Sheetla Mata is worshiped after a week after Holi in the month of Phalgun. On the day of Sheetla Ashtami, Hindu women in many states of North India worship Mata Sheetla with rituals.

Goddess Sheetla is considered to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva. Sheetla Ashtami is also known as Basoda Puja. The Hindu festival is celebrated on the eighth day of Holi. However, many people celebrate it on the Monday or Friday before the festival of colors.

Prepare food a day before on the day

Most families prepare food a day before on the day of Sheetla Ashtami and eat stale food. Goddess Sheetla is believed to control smallpox, chicken pox, measles and other diseases and people worship her to prevent outbreaks of these diseases. No fresh food is prepared on this day. The word Sheetla means coolness. This festival is also known as Polala Amavasya in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Sheetla Mata is worshiped in the month of Chaitra according to the Hindu calendar. Goddess Sheetla is believed to be the healing power of nature and she is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga and Mother Parvati. In many states, people also know this day by the name of Basoda. Due to the change in the weather, there is a tradition of eating cold food on this day. According to the scriptures, worshiping Sheetla Mata and eating cold during this fast cures infections and other diseases.

Devotees take bath with cold water in Brahma Muhurta.

After bath, wear clean clothes and pray to Mata Sheetla and wish for a happy, healthy and peaceful life.

– You can worship the mother by going to the temple and if this is not possible then worship the mother at your home according to the Hindu rules.

After worship, eat the food prepared a day before.

On this day, mothers keep a fast for the safety of their children.

Cooked food and hot food are not allowed on this day.

After this, the worship is concluded with Sheetla Mata Vrat Katha.
