Sharad Pawar leaves for Moscow to AttendBRIC Agriculture Ministers’ Meet

INVC,, New Delhi,, The Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Sharad Pawar has left for Moscow to participate in Brazil, Russia, India, China (BRIC) Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting. Shri Pawar is heading a high level Indian delegation which will take part in the deliberations between 25th-27th March 2010. Shri Pawar will also be meeting Russian First Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Victor, Jubkov and will be holding bilateral discussion with their Russian, Brazilian and Chinese counterparts during the visit. He will also have interaction with representatives of Russian industry. The Agriculture Ministers of BRIC countries will explore the possibilities of cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. After the meeting a declaration will be issued. The outcome of the meeting would be reported to the BRIC Summit being held in Brasilia on 16th Aplril which will be attended by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. BRIC countries together command 25.9% of total geographic area, 40% of global population, and 22% of global GDP (PPP). The clout of the economies individually is also considerable. The Chinese economy is the world’s fourth largest with GDP of $3.2 trillion, while Russia, Brazil and India have a GDP of over $1 trillion each. images140
