SFCI presented a dividend cheque of Rs. 1.57 crore for Sharad Pawar
State Farms Corporation of India (SFCI) presented a dividend cheque of Rs. 1.57 crore for the year 2010-11 to Shri Sharad Pawar, Minister of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries here today. The dividend is 5% of the paid up equity share capital of the Corporation. The income of company has increased by 21.87% and profits increased by 38.70% from last year. SFCI is a premier Government Company engaged in production of quality seeds of breeder, foundation, test stocks and certified category through its 5 farms situated in various agro-climatic zones and 7 regional offices in different parts of the country. It is producing 8.5 lakh quintal seeds of 400 varieties of about 40 crops. Out of these, 75% varieties are recently developed. SFCI is also demonstrating ICAR generated technology to farmers at the field level to enable them to adopt the same for achieving higher crop production. To improve the productivity and profitability of the farms, SFCI has taken various measures such as installation of sprinkler irrigation system, levelling of fields for uniform distribution of inputs and uniform growth of crops, erection of solar power fencing to control the menace of blue bull and installation of latest seed processing plants to improve the quality of seeds.
