Social activist Dr Nutan Thakur has asked the DGP, UP to change the investigation officer (IO) of the sexual assault case registered by Aruna Rai, SICP, PTS, Meerut against IPS D P Srivastava to Alankrita Singh or some other lady IPS officer and to get it monitored at his level or by senior IPS Sutapa Sanyal. She has also sought criminal action against the IO for her deliberate faulty investigation.
The current IO Sawaranjeet Kaur, CO office, Meerut removed non-bailable section 354 IPC from the case so that only the bailable section 354A remained and the accused could get the bail immediately.

Dr Thakur has quoted the Supreme Court order in Rupan Deo Bajal vs KPS Gill to say that the way Sri Srivastava caught Ms Rai’s hand in his own hand to kiss it and caressed her cheek comes under the category of assault and criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty because the way force under section 349, criminal force under section 350 and assault under section 351 IPC is defined makes it pretty obvious that Sri Srivastava’s act is an offence under section 354 IPC.
