Second day theatre stages EPISODE IN THE LIFE OF AN AUTHOR

The second day of the WOMEN DIRECTORS THEATRE FESTIVAL continued to spell its charm on the art loving audience with the staging of a unique and distinct theatre piece based on the “Episode in the Life of an Author” designed and directed by BHARTI SHARMA. An hour long play was inaugurated by UT Finance Secretary Sh.V.K.Singh accompanied by Senior officers of Chandigarh Administration.

This play is all about a sarcastic truth happening in the life of an author, which shows what are those conditions in which a person can undergo in search of morality and piece. According to Director, Bharti Sharma ‘’INSAN BILKUL AKELA HAI. APNI NIRUDDESHYA AUR HASYASPAD SWATANTRATA KE SATH JEEVAN KE MARUSTHAL MEIN BHATAKTA HUA WO US SAATHI KO DHOONDHTA HAI, JO DOOR DOOR TAK KAHIN NAHI HAI.’’ This play also deals with some incidents from the life of an author, expressing the dark truth of so called civilised society in a very comic way. Original French play, ‘’Episode De La Vie D’un Auteur’’ was written by Jean Anouilh in 1948. This play was adapted in Hindi by Mr. Ranjit Kapoor.

The talent On Stage has been showcased by a cast of renowned artists who have performed various roles in the todays theatre stage show      Author : Nikhil Sahu, Maya : Aparajita Dey, Naukrani : Shaiza Kashyap Begum Nafeesa Rehman : Disha Sharma, Photographer : Vijay Kumar Women : Shivani, Plumber : Amit Devalia, Chittu Chopra : Lakshya Goel Maa : Basu Sharma, Viru : Devas Dixit, C.I.D. Inspector : Rishabh Mendhiratta Shishu : Bhavish Kukreja.

The Off Stage operations were looked after by talented team led by  Bharti Sharma, the Womandirector of the show, Stage Manager : Nikhil SahuLight : Mohit Tripathi, Set : Nikhil sahu, Devas Dixit, Property : Amit devalia, Lakshya Goel, Bhavish Kukreja, Costume : Aparajita dey, Rishabh Mendhiratta, Music : Rupesh bhimta, Poster/Brochure : Devas Dixit, Asst. Director : Mohit Tripathi, Writer : Jean Anouilh, Hindi adaptation : Ranjeet Kapoor

Director Bharti Sharma has Masters in Hindi from the University of Delhi, Bharti Sharma graduated from the National School of Drama (1987) and was a member of NSD Repertory (1987-88). Active in theatre since 1982. She has acted in nearly 50 plays, working with eminent directors like Satyadev Dubey, Ratan Thiyam, Ram Gopal Bajaj, Mohan Maharishi, Fritz Bennewitz and Barry John; has performed at international Theatre Festivals in Tunisia, Algeria, Rome, Syria and Kuwait; She has acted, anchored, written produced and directed features, Films documentaries for Doordarshan, several private channels and the Department of Culture, Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India.

The concluding day will stage the play play Quality Street (In English) Directed by Maya Krishna Rao’s will be staged at 7 pm at Tagore Theatre.
