The Supreme Court has issued notices to UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Cabinet Minister Azam Khan in the various PILs related with Muzaffarnagar riots filed by Social activist Dr Nutan Thakur, Ravindra Rajaura and We the People in Allahabad and Lucknow benches of Allahabad High Court which have been transferred to the Supreme Court.
The cases by the above three petitioners titled by the Supreme Court as Dr Nutan Thakur etc vs Union of India and others shall be next heard on 17 October 2013 at 2.00 PM. As per the notice, along with the petitioners, Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan have been directed to appear before the Supreme Court either in person or through an Advocate on record, failing which the matter will be heard and determined in their absence.
