Sawan 2022: Why these days the reins of the world are with Lord Shiva
The sleeping period of the deities has started from Devshayani Ekadashi. According to Shiva Purana, when Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra, then the reins of the world remain in the hands of Lord Shiva.
Sawan has started from 14th July 2022. It is believed that during this time Shiva leaves Kailash and comes to earth, from here he governs the universe. Let us know where Lord Bholenath resides on earth in Sawan. According to mythology, Lord Shiva along with his entire family visits his in-laws in the month of Sawan. There is an in-laws house of Lord Shiva in Kankhal of Haridwar. Lord Shiva was tied in the bond of marriage to Mata Sati in the Daksha temple located here.
Goddess Sati had given up her life here
According to Shiva Purana, Daksha Prajapati, the father of Goddess Sati, had organized a famous yagya in Kankhal. Lord Bholenath was not invited in this yagya. It is here that Goddess Sati sacrificed her life in the yagya for insulting Lord Shiva by her father. On the fire of Mata Sati, Veerbhadra, the gotra form of Shiva, cut off the head of Daksha Prajapati.

It is said that a small pit present here is a sign of the sacrifice of King Daksha Prajapati in which Goddess Sati gave up her life. On the other hand, the idol of Lord Shiva, carrying the unconscious Goddess Sati in his arms, depicts the incident after taking the samadhi of Mother Sati. PLC/GT
