The Akademi will soon launch the magazine’s online version.

Laying one of its major milestones ever since its inception in 1952,
the Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) launched its first Hindi Quarterly Magazine titled “Sangana” in Meghdoot Theatre-III  Sangana was released by the honourable Member of Parliament and the recipient of Padma Vibhushan, Dr Kapila Vatsyayan.
Marking the occasion, there was also a discussion on the writings and reflections on Arts in Hindi, which was presided by the Chairperson of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ms. Leela Samson – (it is note worthy that recently Ms Leela Samson was also nominated as the chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification).
The Akademi was publishing English quarterly titled ‘Sangeet Natak’ for the past 40 years. The word “Sang” in Sangana has been derived from Sangeet and “ Na” from Natak. Sangana also means to ‘come together’. Therefore ‘Sangana’ – the Hindi – and ‘Sangeet Natak’ –
the English quarterly – will together reflect the image of the cultural activities of SNA across India. This will be done by experienced Editorial Board. The editorial board comprises of Mr Kamlesh Dutt Tripathi, Mr Mukund Lath, Mr Kapil Tiwari and Mr Jayayant Kastuar, Secretary of the Akademi, besides Shanta Sarbjeet Singh, the Vice Chairman of the Akademi. Mr Prayag Shukla is the editor of the magazine. “It will be a platform for the reflection of numerous cultural activities in the country”, says Jayant Kastuar, Secretary – Sangeet Natak Akademy. Chairperson of the Akademi observed, “I am very happy that the hindi
quarterly has been launched after ample preparations. Akademi has lot of cultural treaures under its wing
and there are plans to bring them before wider public”.
The first edition of Sangana will include writings by Mr Gautam Chatterjee on dramatics, reminisces of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi by renowned musician Pandit Vidyadhar Vyas, poet Manglesh Dabral and Yateendra
Mishra, a historical perspective on Tal and Tabla by Muklund Lath and the introduction of Sanskrit plays by Mr Devendra Raj Ankur. The magazine layout has been designed by Mr Rajiv Sharma and the cover page by
Mr Gopi Ghazvani. According to the founders of the magazine, though in Hindi, Sangana will encompass both national and international cultural activities.
