No examination fee would be charged from students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes studying in classes I to XII in Government schools of Haryana. A decision to this effect was taken in a review meeting of Education Department held under the Chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, here . Mr Hooda directed the Finance Department that in lieu of examination fee of students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Haryana School Education Board, Bhiwani be compensated.
 Mr Hooda said that Right to Education Act is being implemented in an efficient manner in the State and the State Government is committed to provide free and compulsory education to the children. He said that no fee would be charged from the students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes so that no student remain deprived of education for the want of funds. Education Minister, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal said that Haryana was amongst leading States of the country where provisions of Right to Education Act have been implemented in an effective manner and after its implementation, the fee charged from the students has been refunded. It was informed in the meeting that before 2008-09, reimbursement of Board’s examination fee of students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes studying in government and government aided schools was done by Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department. In the year 2008-09, the government started new incentive based scheme for the students belonging to Scheduled Castes under which the students studying in class I to XII were given lump sum  and monthly allowance. The scheme was extended in the year 2009-10 and students belonging to Backward Classes-A and those belonging to below poverty line were included in it. Those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Chhatar Singh, Principal OSD to Chief Minister, Mr M. S. Chopra, Deputy Principal Secretary, Mr R. S. Doon, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Mr Sanjeev Kaushal, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Mrs Surina Rajan, Director, Elementary Education, Mr Pankaj Yadav, Director, Primary Education, Mr Abhay Singh Yadav.
