Rice Procurement Picks up; Crosses 28 Lakh Tonne

INVC,, Delhi,, Rice procurement in the Kharif Marketing Season 2010-11 is picking up. Government agencies have procured 28 lakh tonne rice so far. With 22.7 lakh tonne Punjab is on the top followed by Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The contribution of Haryana is over 5 lakh tonne while that of Tamil Nadu is about 26 thousand tonne. Kerala has contributed over 16 thousand tonne.
