REC to provide Aids and Appliances to persons with disabilities under CSR initiatives

Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC),  a Navratana PSE under Ministry of Power, has committed outlay of Rs.3.30 crore  under CSR initiatives for the purpose of providing Aids and Assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities from economically weaker sections of society.  A Memorandum of Understanding in this regard was signed between REC and  Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a PSE under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, for the second consecutive year for the assessment and distribution of Aids and Appliances to Persons with Disabilities   on 31st January 2014 at REC Corporate Office in New Delhi.

The agreement was signed by Shri P.J. Thakkar Director (Technical), REC, and            Lt. Col (Retd.) P K Dube, GM, ALIMCO in the presence of Shri Awanish Awasthi, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Shri Rajeev Sharma, CMD, REC, Shri G. Narayan Rao, CMD , ALIMCO,  Shri Ajeet Kumar Agarwal,  Director(Finance), REC, Shri Rakesh K. Arora,  GM (Corporate Planning and CSR), REC, along with  gentry of officials from REC and ALIMCO.

The Project aims at providing Aids and Assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities and other differently abled population from economically weaker sections of Society at 15 locations across  7 states, with the objective of empowering them to lead lives of socio-economic independence, for the second consecutive year,  in continuation with similar project successfully completed in during previous year.
