Railway revenue earnings up by 14.94 per cent during the period 1st – 10th November 2009

New Delhi. The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 1st to 10th November 2009 were Rs. 2332.14 crore compared to Rs. 2028.92 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.94 per cent. The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1306.73 crore during the period from 1st to 10th November 2008 to Rs. 1569.25 crore during 1st November – 10th November 2009, showing an increase of 20.09 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th November 2009 were Rs. 690.20 crore compared to Rs. 650.55 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 6.09 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 55.58 crore during this period compared to Rs. 53.25 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.38 per cent. The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th November, 2009 were 223.51 million compared to 206.38 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 8.30 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 1st to 10th November, 2009 were 121.46 million and 102.05 million compared to 110.48 million and 95.90 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.94 per cent and 6.41 per cent respectively.
