Railway Minister announces Rs. 5 lakh ex-gratia for murdered GRP personnel

The Union Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee today expressed deep condolence and announced that Rs.5 lakh will be paid as ex-gratia as a special case to the next of kin of Arun Bhadra, the GRP constable who was shot at and killed by a group of miscreants on board 605 Malda Town – Katihar passenger train last night. She also announced that an eligible member from the family of the deceased GRP personnel will be provided employment in the Railways.

Arun Bhadra, hailing from Malda, was attacked by five-member group of miscreants while he was escorting the passenger train along with his colleague Sandip Singha last night. The miscreants fired at Bhadra from a country-made firearm injuring him. He later succumbed to his injuries. The miscreants, who had boarded the train at Bhaluka Road, later decamped with two service rifles of the GRP personnel along with ammunition.
