After receiving input from Nashik Police, the Union Home Ministry has asked Delhi Police, UP and Madhya Pradesh Police to increase the security at Rahul Gandhi’s residence and also to tighten his security. Following the order of the Home Ministry, the security of Rahul Gandhi’s residence located at 24 Akbar Road, Delhi has been tightened. Along with this, policemen in plain clothes have been deployed around his residence along with increased patrolling. According to the information, the Home Ministry has ordered Maharashtra Police and Delhi Police to investigate the input received. At present, the police of both the states are busy assessing the seriousness of the input received about the attack on Rahul Gandhi.
It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi’s father and former Prime Minister of the country Rajiv Gandhi was also assassinated by a suicide bomb during a public meeting. Therefore Rahul’s security is a serious issue. At present he has got Z Plus security. In this category of security, 55 trained personnel including more than 10 NSG commandos and police personnel are deployed near the person concerned. All these commandos keep a close watch around the person 24 hours. It is noteworthy that earlier Rahul Gandhi had SPG security, which was removed by the Modi government.
