Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Director, Tourism who is also Mission Director of Infrastructure Development & Investment Programme for Tourism in Himachal Pradesh, Asian Development Bank (ADB) project today hold a meeting with ADB consultants and other officials of ADB project to assess the progress of the project till-date and the progress of the project is found satisfactory. He said that the Project Management Unit (PMU) was in the process of bidding of the sub-projects under Tranch-I. Dr. Sharma also said that process for the appointment of Project Management Consultant and Design & Supervising Consultant was going-on and by the end of this year the consultants for this project would be finalized to assist the activities to be undertaken during Tranch-I.

Director, Tourism said that the Project Implementation Unit will be set up in Kangra at Dharamshala shortly. The total cost of the project is 95 Million US Dollar. He said that in first phase, the infrastructure project for the Mall Road, Shimla, Naina Devi, Chintpurni, Pong Dam, Masroor and Bajreshwari Devi temple were being undertaken and added that under Tranch-I, the cost of the project is 33 million US Dollar.

Keeping in view the tourist season, Dr Arun Sharma today directed all the District Tourism Development Officers to carry out the inspections in the tourism units under H.P. Tourism Development and Registration Act, 2002. He said that the objective of the inspections aimed at ensuring the hygienic conditions of the units and to facilitate the tourists so that they could not be fleeced by way of overcharging etc.
