Process of demarcations and partitions should be speeded to provide relief to people : Virbhadra Singh
INVC NEWS New Delhi, While presiding over the annual State level convention of HP Revenue officers association at hotel Peterhoff today, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced vehicles for Tehsildars. Only selected Tehsildars who were performing higher responsibilities would be upgraded to the post of District Revenue Officers and that too in a phased manner, he added. Shri Virbhadra Singh said that demarcations and partitions etc needs to be speeded up. He said that despite appointments of revenue officers in tehsils and Sub tehsils, it takes ample time to complete demarcations, adding that he was telling all this because of the complaints he receives from the people, particularly in rural areas, while he was on tours. He said that this had to be looked upon. ‘Where there is a will there is a way’, said the Chief Minister, adding that the process of demarcations and partitions should be speeded up particularly in rural areas to provide the much needed relief to the rural masses. He said that Revenue department had always played a pivotal role since times immemorial and particularly after post Independence era adding that with passing times the role of revenue officers had increased manifold. He said that as of now, when there were 101 tehsils and 55 sub tehsils in the State, the role of revenue officers has become even more important. The Association also presented a cheque of Rs. 2.01 lakh to the Chief Minister towards the CM Relief Fund. The Chief Minister also released the Calendar of the Association. Revenue and Law Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur who also addressed the officers said that there was lot of expansion in revenue sector as lots sub tehsil and tehsil were opened during the regime of the present government. ‘Stagnation leads to inefficiency and lack of zeal and we want efficient officers like you all present in the convention here today’ he said, adding new Kannungo circles were created in the State. Besides, 2300 youth were appointed as multipurpose workers in the revenue department. He said that government decided that with opening of new tehsils and sub tehsils the posts would automatically be filled as per announcements. The Minister said that the honorarium of sub registrars was enhanced from Rs. 200 to Rs. 2000. The tehsildar have multifarious role to play in the field and supporting the demands of the vehicles to the Tehsildars. President, of HP Revenue Officers Association, Shri Narayan Chauhan welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister. He also placed several demands including the enhancement of promotional quota in HAS to 35 percent and demand for vehicles to all Tehsildars. They said that it was during the Chief Minister ship of Shri Virbhadra Singh that convention of Revenue Officers Association was held four times. Ayurveda and Co-operative Minister Shri Karan Singh, MLA Shri Anirudh Singh, Chief Secretary Shri V.C Pharka, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Tarun Shridhar, General Secretary Shri Seesh Ram and revenue officers from all over the State were present on the occasion amongst others.
