Suriname – : President Draupadi Murmu is on a tour of Suriname these days. Here he participated in a cultural program. During this, in his address, he praised Suriname and said that he is feeling at home here. I am very happy to be here. I am deeply touched by the welcome and hospitality extended by all the delegation here. I convey my best wishes to you on behalf of your brothers and sisters of India. This is my first visit to your country and today is also a special occasion.
You get a great environment from the country’s greenery, trees and clean air, but what has attracted me the most is the diversity, hospitality, health and enthusiasm of the Surinamese people. Known for diversity, India and Suriname people mix so easily with others, that I feel like I am at home. President Draupadi Murmu was conferred with the highest honor of Suriname by the President of Suriname, Chandrika Prasad Santokhian on 5th June. Awarded the ‘Grand Order of the Chain of the Yellow Star’. President Murmu is the first woman President of India, who has been honored with this award. He dedicated the award to the citizens of both the countries and especially to the women.
