PM reviews progress of jobs plan for Jammu and Kashmir

The Expert Group set up by the Prime Minister, under Dr C. Rangarajan, to prepare a jobs plan for Jammu & Kashmir met the Prime Minister on 25th evening and apprised him of the progress of its work. The Group outlined a range of short and long term measures being considered by it for a focused impact on enhancing the employment opportunities and improving the employability prospects of people of the State, both within the State and in the larger national economy.

Prime Minister desired that the Group take into account all relevant aspects, like skill enhancement, education and appropriate involvement of civil society and industry, so that employment opportunities generated are sustainable. He also asked the Group to give due regard to equity considerations, in terms of various regions of the State, sectors of the economy, levels of skill, and gender. The Group assured the Prime Minister that these aspects would be taken into account and that its report will be ready within three months.
