PM Modi to Dedicate and Lay Foundation Stone of Developmental Projects Worth Rs. 14,300 Crore in Assam

INVC News  New Delhi , On 14th April, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Assam to dedicate to the Nation and lay the foundation stone of various developmental projects worth around Rs. 14,300 crore. The projects to be inaugurated include the AIIMS Guwahati and three other Medical colleges in Assam, Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII), the beautification of Rang Ghar, Sivasagar, and the bridge on Brahmaputra river connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi.

At around noon, Prime Minister Modi will reach the newly built campus of AIIMS Guwahati and inspect it. The prime minister will subsequently dedicate the AIIMS Guwahati and three other medical colleges to the Nation at a public function. Moreover, he will lay the foundation stone of Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII) and launch the ‘Aapke Dwar Ayushman’ campaign by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to eligible beneficiaries.

The operationalization of AIIMS, Guwahati is a significant achievement for the state of Assam and the entire North-East region. The Prime Minister’s commitment to strengthen health infrastructure across the country is evident through this development. The foundation stone of this Hospital was laid by the Prime Minister in May 2017. Built at a cost of over Rs. 1120 crores, AIIMS Guwahati is a state-of-the-art Hospital having a capacity of 750 beds, including 30 AYUSH beds. The hospital will have an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students every year. The Hospital will provide world-class health facilities to the people of North-East.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate to the Nation three Medical Colleges, namely, Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College, and Kokrajhar Medical College, built at a cost of about Rs. 615 crore, Rs. 600 crore and Rs. 535 crore, respectively. Each medical college has an attached 500-bedded teaching hospital with OPD/IPD services, including emergency services, ICU facilities, OT, and diagnostic facilities, etc. Each Medical College will have an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students.

The ceremonial launch of the ‘Aapke Dwar Ayushman’ campaign by the Prime Minister is a step towards realizing his vision of reaching out to every beneficiary to ensure 100 percent saturation of welfare schemes. The Prime Minister will distribute Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to three representative beneficiaries, followed by the distribution of about 1.1 crore AB-PMJAY Cards in all districts of the state.

The foundation stone of Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII) is a significant development in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Atmnirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ in the areas related to health. The majority of technologies used in healthcare in the country are imported and developed in a different context, which are highly expensive and complex to operate in the Indian environment. AAHII is envisioned in such a context and will work towards finding solutions for India’s healthcare problems. AAHII, to be built at a cost of about Rs. 546 crore, will act as a hub of innovation and excellence in healthcare and will focus on research, development, and innovation in medical technology, healthcare delivery systems, and healthcare financing.

It will have a core group of scientists, engineers and doctors who will be working in collaboration with other national and international experts. The Institute will be responsible for the development and validation of new health technologies, devices, diagnostics and drugs which are suitable for Indian settings. It will also create a strong research base for developing affordable and innovative solutions to the healthcare needs of the people of Assam and the country.

PM to lay foundation stone of a bridge on Brahmaputra river connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi

Prime Minister’s visit to Assam will also mark the laying of the foundation stone of a bridge on Brahmaputra river connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi. The bridge, which will be built at a cost of around Rs. 2,800 crore, will connect the northern bank of the Brahmaputra river with the southern bank, and will be a major boost to connectivity and trade in the region. The bridge will also be a symbol of the government’s commitment to develop the infrastructure in the North East region.

PM to lay foundation stone of beautification of Rang Ghar, Sivasagar

Another significant project that the Prime Minister will launch during his visit to Assam is the beautification of Rang Ghar, Sivasagar. Rang Ghar is a historic monument in Sivasagar district, which was built during the Ahom dynasty in the 18th century. The monument is an important tourist attraction and is also an important part of Assamese culture and heritage. The beautification project, which will be undertaken at a cost of around Rs. 2.5 crore, will help in preserving and showcasing the rich heritage and culture of Assam to the world.
