Piyush Goyal addresses India-France Business Summit, aims for $2 trillion exports by 2030

INVC NEWS New Delhi , On 11th April 2023, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, addressed the India – France Business Summit and CEOs Roundtable in Paris, France. During his address, he mentioned the vast opportunities available in India, emphasizing that India is one of the largest consumers of goods and services, and the export of goods and services is growing by over 50%. Shri Goyal also expressed his hope that India’s export would triple from $765 billion to $2 trillion by 2030.

The summit was organized by the Embassy of India, Paris, France, in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF), and the Indo French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI). Vice-President, CII and Chairman & Managing Director, ITC Limited, Mr. Sanjiv Puri, highlighted the significance of India’s relationship with France, while DG CII, Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, noted the commitment of India and France to collaborative engagement in areas such as innovation, financial inclusion, ESG in businesses, and deepening global engagement towards Africa.

The summit sessions focused on four main topics: Building a green future; Critical and Emerging Technologies: The New Strategic Frontier; Defence Cooperation: Securing a Shared Future Through Atmanirbhar Bharat, and France and India: Springboard to Europe and Indo-Pacific. The CEOs Roundtable was addressed by more than 50 CEOs from Indian and French companies, representing sectors such as agriculture, tourism, defence, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and aerospace.

During the summit, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad, Government of France, Mr. Olivier Becht, expressed his confidence that India would attract numerous manufacturing activities since it is the world’s most populous country. He further stated that there is tremendous untapped potential for further collaboration between French companies and India.

In conclusion, the India-France Business Summit and CEOs Roundtable brought together Indian and French companies to explore opportunities for collaboration and investment in a variety of sectors. It also provided a platform for India and France to deepen their ties and enhance their cooperation in various areas.
