A Mega camp for free of cost distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances to the Persons with Disabilities under the ADIP scheme was held at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.  The camp was organized by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur working under the Department Of Empowerment Of Person with Disability (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) in close association with District Administration, Gwalior.

The event with a huge gathering of over two thousand people was inaugurated by Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and was presided by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Steel and Mines and Member of Parliament, Gwalior constituency in the august presence of Smt. Maya Singh, Minister for Women and Child Devlopment , Government of Madhya Pradesh and various other dignitaries.

A total of 2924 Persons with different kind of disabilities were provided various types of aids and assistive devices manufactured and distributed by ALIMCO valuing over Rs. 2 Core 74 Thousand under the ADIP scheme in the camp. These beneficiaries were pre identified during the assessment camps conducted at different location from 15thJune to 01st July, 2015.

Speaking on the occasion Union Minister for Steel and Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, applauded the commendable work done by the social justice and empowerment ministry in a short tenure particularly for differently abled across the nation, he also thanked the Ministry for conducting such a mega camp and serving the differently abled in his constituency.

A addressing the gathering at the camp Shri Gehlot said that persons with disabilities are highly talented and are integral part of human resource, some of them are working as Advocates and Charted Accountant. He applauded the performance of blind cricket team of India, which won the World Cup for disabled in cricket. The Minister further added the disabled sports persons have secured gold and silver medals for India, in the recently concluded sports events abroad.

Informing about the new initiative and schemes undertaken in the interest of persons with disability by the Ministry, Shri Gehlot, announced that his ministry assures to set up a high capacity hostel of 500 seats for SC, ST and Differently abled in Gwalior District if the demand is initiated by the concerned department of the state or district administration.

Modern contemporary Aids and Assistive devices were distributed in the camp which included 10 Motorized Tricycle, Daisy Players, 138-Smart Canes & Tablets for Visually Impaired 81-ADL Kits for persons affected from Leprosy.

Pre-identified beneficiaries were provided with various assistive aids and devices which includes 1527-Tricycles, 415-Wheelchairs, 2182-Crutches (Axilla and L-bow), 158-Walking Stick, 113-Rollators for Orthopedically Impaired persons 61-Braille Cane(folding) & Braille Slate, 528-Behind The Ear – Digital Hearing Aid machines and  423- MSIED Kit (Multi Sensory Inclusive Educational Kit) for Children with Special Needs. Also in the camp 307 beneficiaries were facilitated with 380 numbers of Prosthetics and Orthotics appliances.

Shri Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Joint Secretary, DEPwD, Ms. Kiran Puri, JS & FA, MoSJE, Dr. Sanjay Goyal, Collector, Gwalior, Shri D R Sarin, CMD, ALIMCO, Local representative, dignitaries and senior officers from district administration and ALIMCO were present during the function.
