Pawan Kumar Bansal inaugurates Central Bank of India’s Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Center at Village Daria, Chandigarh UT

Pawan Kumar Bansal, Cabinet Minister for Parliamentary Affairs today inaugurated the Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Centers in Village Daria, in the premises of Central Bank of India. While inaugurating the Center, he expressed his happiness that Central Bank of India is the first Bank in India to open this Center in rural area of the country.
He told that Reserve Bank of India issued guidelines to open these centers in rural areas; but most of the Banks have opened these centers in Urban and Semi-urban centers. RBI has given instructions to open Financial Literacy Centers in rural areas where most of the financial excluded population
resides. He further emphasized to translate the pamphlets into local languages and educate the people on topics such as why to save, why save early in life; why borrow from Bank; how to open account; how to use ATM Card; why save for retirement etc.
Shri Bansal urged Bank to fulfill the financial needs of people under Differential Rate of Interest Scheme of government of India. He opined without financial inclusion, there cannot be any growth of India for which he lauded the role of Banks for having undertaken the task with full vigour and zeal.
He also inaugurated the ATM of the Bank Daria Branch, a rural Branch which would go a long way in fulfilling the banking needs of cross section of people. To create awareness on health amongst  the rural population, Bank also organized a medical check up in association with Fortis Hospital. Team of Doctors examined the residents in the camp. He also inaugurated  the Coin Distribution Center of the Bank at Daria, which is again a First in Rural Area.
Shri B. Mondal, General Manager welcomed Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal. Dr. V.N. Pathak, Regional Manager of Chandigarh assured the Minister that financial needs of the people from rural areas will be met very soon and will chalk out a detail programme. Shri B. Akbaraly, Zonal Manager of the Bank conveyed his sincere thanks to the Minister and appealed to public to take advantage
of ATM and Financial Literacy facilities introduced by the Bank. He also advised the customers to avail ‘Missed Call’ facility offered by the Bank for the first time in the country, to know their account balance and last three transactions. The function was attended by cross section of residents
of Daria village besides Sarpanch and other village functionaries.
