Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would get regular funding from the Union Government.: Ashok Thakur

Union Higher Education Secretary Mr. Ashok Thakur today said that Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would get regular funding from the Union Government. He was replying to a media query at PU Campus on Friday. While addressing the interactive session with members of Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) Institutions, Principals of Colleges of Chandigarh at the ICSSR Hall in PU campus, Mr. Thakur appreciated the coming together of leading educational institutions like PU, PGI, PEC, IISER Mohali, NIPER etc. in form of CRIKC and describe it as ‘great sign’. Similar efforts are being done in Delhi and Hyderabad also but the amount of enthusiasm in Chandigarh is  unsurpassed, he added.  Thakur said that CRIKC would be the first project, where different institutions come together and are given funds by UGC. “Let it be an example for whole of the country”, he added. He appreciated the efforts of the PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover and his leadership. Prof Grover is doing great job of bringing institutions
together, breaking silos and I congratulate him, he further added. PU VC Prof Grover, Heads of CRIKC Institutions, Principals of Colleges of Chandigarh, officers of PU also participated in the interactive session.
