A retired Pakistani military officer and YouTuber has alleged that some actresses are being used to ‘honey trap’ by the country’s powerful establishment. Pakistani actress Sajal Aly has responded to social media posts defaming her character after an ex-serviceman made apparently vile allegations against her and some other actresses, reports Sama TV.

Retired army officer Major Adil Raja runs a YouTube channel called ‘Soldier Speaks’ which has over 290,000 subscribers. He released a vlog, after which Sajal Aly is angry. The retired army officer alleged that some actresses were used to ‘honey trap’ by the country’s powerful establishment. Although he did not name any actress, but used the first letter of her name. People mistook the initials of the names of actresses working in plays produced by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). Sajal Ellie was also included in those actresses.

This was followed by several derogatory troll posts on social media and finally Sajal responded to them condemning the trend.

“It is very sad that our country is becoming morally corrupt and ugly, character assassination is the worst form of humanity and sin,” he said in a tweet. In April last year, there were reports that retired army officer Adil Raja, who had reportedly gone missing from Islamabad, had safely reached his family in the United Kingdom. Raja is an active political commentator on Twitter and a strong supporter of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He also criticized the removal of Khan and his government and called for the PTI chief’s re-election as prime minister in a tweet on 10 April.

As per his profile available on Twitter, he is a war veteran and columnist. Former military officers have also been critical of the new government, particularly the Sharif family, and have sporadically criticized the government for alleged corruption. On the day Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as prime minister, Raja tweeted: “The appointment of a new crime minister is a sign of failure of our system.” PLC/GT
