There has been an attitudinal change in the Delhi public as well as Delhi Police personnel in the wake of recently concluded Commonwealth Games, says the Union Home Minister Sh. P. Chidambaram. He was addressing the 15th Nagaland Armed Police (IR) Mahila Batallion here today. The Batallion had been on duty at the Games. Sh. Chidambaram said that “no one found anything negative about the security arrangements for the Games. People of Delhi have possibly learnt to live and adjust their behaviour to the stringent security situations.” He said that Delhi Police personnel also showed much courteous and helpful behaviour during their duties at the Games. The minister expressed the hope that this change in attitude will remain for ever.
Sh. Chidambaram applauded the personnel and officers of 15th Nagaland Armed Police (IR) Mahila Batallion for performing their duties with dedication and efficiency. The Mahila Batallion performed as effectively as any other Force, proving that they are in no way less than their male counterparts. He said that Mahila battalions had been raised to remove the myth of gender bias. To the need for lightweight weapons for Mahila Batallion, the Minister said that the Ministry would surely look into this aspect when procurements take place.
