P.Chidambaram Felicitates Police Sportspersons who won Laurels at the Recent Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

The All India Police Sports Control Board organised today a felicitation function for police sportspersons who won medals in the 19th Commonwealth Games, New Delhi (October 3-14, 2010), the 16th Asian Games, Guangzhou, China, (November 12-27, 2010) and also for Arjuna Awardees-2010. Union Home Minister Shri P. Chidambram was the Chief Guest at the function.

Shri P. Chidambram gave away the cheques of reward money to the medal winners/Arjuna awardees and congratulated & praised the Police sportspersons for their sterling performance in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games and hoped that they will further improve their performance in future. Senior Police officers of Central Para Military Forces and of Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, UP and Manipur Police witnessed the function.

In the 19th CWG (October 3-14, 2010), the Police sportspersons had won 17 medals including 4 Gold, 6 Silver and 7 Bronze. In the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou, China (November 12 – 27, 2010), they won 12 medals including 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze. The list of medal winners is enclosed. Apart from winning medals in Commonwealth Games & Asian Games, two Haryana Police sportspersons Dy. S.P. Sandeep Singh, Hockey player and Inspector Dinesh Kumar, boxer, are the recipients of the prestigious Arjuna Award for 2010. So far, 75 Police sportspersons have received the prestigious sporting honour, the “Arjuna award “.
