The 5-day mega event, Shimla Mega Mart, organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the Tourism department, Himachal Pradesh from 7th to 11th June, 2013 concluded here today on a very ecstatic note, informed Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Sharing that the five day buying extravaganza for natives and tourists received good response, Sharma said, “The exhibition was visited by more than One Lakh visitors over these five days. Home interiors, handicrafts, artefacts, electronic goods and appliances, fashion accessories, fabrics, onyx marble were the main attractions”. “Even the rain could not dampen the spirits of the enthusiasts. People could be seen thronging the stalls the whole day”, added Sharma. “The exclusive food court put up to tickle the food buds of the foodies with mouth-watering Punjabi, Rajasthani, Pakistani, and old Delhi delicacies witnessed heavy rush”, added Sharma. There was huge rush especially at Pakistani food stalls. “The event could be bigger with more representations from bigger brands and verticals but for the constraint of space in Shimla”, reiterated Sharma. Dhian Chand, Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Committee, PHD Chamber said that owing to the success of the previous similar events, and high public demand, PHD Chamber has decided to organise the Shimla Mega Mart on a regular basis annually.
