South Korea’s top diplomat claimed on Tuesday that North Korea has completed preparations for a new nuclear test and that a political decision by the country’s top leadership can stop it.

After talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken here, South Korea’s Foreign Minister Park Jin said that North Korea will have to pay a price if it moves in this direction. It is suspected that he may conduct a seventh nuclear test in the coming days.
Park said North Korea has completed preparations for another nuclear test and I think there is only a political decision to be made now. Earlier, US and South Korean officials said that North Korea was close to completing preparations for a nuclear test. “If North Korea conducts another nuclear test, I think it will only increase our retaliation and increase international sanctions,” Park said.

Aside from the sanctions, Park did not say what other cost North Korea would have to pay, nor gave any details on how a deterrence policy could stop it. However, Blinken said the US and its allies South Korea and Japan would make significant changes to their military deployments as a retaliation. Besides that, the pressure will continue, it will continue and as appropriate, he said. PLC/GT
