The Northern India Institute of Fashion & Technology (NIIFT), Mohali has organized an one-day tricity’s inter college poster making competition at its campus here today. As many 100 students from NIIFT, Mohali , NIIFT centers at Ludhiana and Jalandhar and tricity colleges participated in competition with lot of zest and zeal.
The competition was organized with the objective to provide trained professionals to the Apparel, Fashion & Retail Industries and to hunt the upcoming talent in the field of Art and Fashion besides boosting the morale of the students.
The topics of the competition were -Global Warming, Save Girl, Save Nation, Green India, Save the Wildlife and Reconnect to the Glorious Indian Heritage. The topics were chosen by a team of dedicated faculty in the field of Art keeping in mind the latest issues concerning our country and society in specific. The idea behind choosing such topics was to make people aware about various issues like sustainability, consequences of Global Warming in the coming years, importance of Girl Child.
The cash prizes to the winners were given in the following categories: Ms. Jyoti – 1st prize of Rs. 5000, Ms. Vishakha- 2nd Prize of Rs. 3000, Ms. Nidhi-3rd Prize for Rs. 2000. Ms. Neelam, Mr. Hanit Soni, Mr. Sarabjeet, Ms. Shaloo and Ms. Sonu got five consolation prizes of Rs. 1000/- each.
The competition was evaluated by Jury comprises of Ms. Poonam Thakur, Academic Head, Dr. Simrita Singh, Course Co-coordinator(Fashion Design), Ms. Taranjot and External Jury Mr. Bheem Malhotra, Secretary, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy, Asstt. Professor Chandigarh College of Architecture.
The prizes were distributed by Mr. Vishav Bandhu, Director NIIFT, Mohali and Mr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar NIIFT, Mohali. Mr. Bandhu said that we really appreciated the way students have conceptualize the topics and we were really happy to see the marvelous response from the students of tricity.
During occasion the students were also informed about B.Sc. Degree in Fashion Design(FD), Textile Design(TD) and Fashion Design Knits(FDK) and M.Sc. Degree in Garment Manufacturing Technology (GMT), Fashion Marketing Management (FMM) by provided by NIIFT in affiliation with PTU. Students were also informed that they can apply also for admission. Last date is 17the May’13 and Entrance test is on 6 June’2013
