NHAI will construct a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) near Jharera village (Opposite Western Air Command, Subroto Park) on NH-8 in Delhi. The Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways Shri RPN Singh announced this during his visit to Jharera village on saturday. Minsiter of State, Home, Shri Ajay Makan and local MLA and officials of NHAI accompanied him during the visit. The FOB has been necissiated due to incidents of accidents -involving pedestrians while crossing NH-8 -that have taken place on the stretch.
The tenders for the work for an amount of Rs. 5 crore along with construction of FOB at Dhaula Kuan near DSOI on NH-8 has been invited by NHAI. The work will be completed in two and a half months. The work is likely to be awarded by 1st week of August 2010. However, keeping in view the fact that it may not be possible to operationalise the FOB before Common Wealth Games, the construction at the site will start only after completion of Games. It will be completed by December, 2010.The FOB will have a ramp and staircase to facilitate crossing by cyclists, old persons and pedestrians.
