AAP government has no role in ban on hookah bars: Sirsa
The AAP government Delhi has played no role in ban imposed on Hookah Bars in Delhi and its leadership is now trying to mislead the people of Delhi. This was disclosed by BJP MP Mr. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Delhi MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa here today.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr. Verma and Mr. Sirsa disclosed that on May 23, 2016, Health Ministry Government of India issued an order banning Hookah Smoking. They said that after that on July 17, 2017, Mr. Sirsa met LG Delhi to get this order of the GOI implemented in Delhi and on his orders department of State Tobacco Control issued an order on July 21, 2017, banning Hookah bars in Delhi. Then Mr. Sirsa and his team lased with the new order issued at the instance of LG handed over copies of this order to the SHOs of Delhi to get this order implemented and get Hookah Bars closed in the National Capital.
Mr. Sirsa also disclosed that in between these events, he also approached NGT to get Hookah bars closed in Delhi and pursued case there. He also said that he also approached Delhi government time and again but it paid no heed to his appeals on the issue.
He said that now the AAP government has woken up from deep slumber only to claim that it has banned Hookah Bars. Did he ask Health Minister, Mr. Satyendra Jain, on which order he had issued and when to ban these Hookah Bars? He said that the order they are talking about is two months old and they had no role to play in it. He also reminded the AAP leadership that he had thrice issued notice for call attention motion on the issue in Delhi Assembly but the Speaker had refused to take up this issue though he had also made personal appeals that this was a very important issue concerning the youth of Delhi.
Mr. Sirsa said that the AAP government is answerable to people on why it was silent all these two and a half years and this time was wasted and Youth of the National Capital used Hookah in bars in Delhi. He also questioned that who is responsible for all these years in which youth has become addicted to Hookah?
Mr. Sirsa said that he was thankful to all the dignitaries including Union Health Minister Mr. Harshvardhan, Mr. KTS Tulsi, General JJ Singh, Mr. Manjit Singh GK President DSGMC, Mr. Manoj Tiwari, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Mr. Vijayendra Gupta and others who lent support to his campaign against the Hookah Bars in Delhi and with the wholehearted support of the public this ban has been implemented in the National Capital.
