Naveen Jindal pledges 25 lacs support to the Business Aviation Association of India at IBAE 2011

Following the robust industry opening of the Indian Business Aviation Expo (IBAE) 2011, the 2nd day of the event added to the delegates enthusiasm as Shri Naveen Jindal, Member of Parliament, Government of India and Executive Vice Chairman & MD, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, recognized the
need of the industry to work together, and announced 25 lacs sponsorship for the Business Aviation Association for India (BAAI) at the inaugural session of the event.
The funds will be used to engage a dedicated Chief Executive Officer who would work for the cause of the sectoral growth in India.
A frequent user of business aviation himself, Shri Jindal appreciated the willingness of the present ministry to clear the roadmap for the General Aviation sector, but emphasized, „there is a great need for building airports. Delhi unlike other big cities of the world has only one airport. There may be security concerns, but we need to find a healthy balance‟. Addressing the industry present he said, “ We are too conservative, but we need to make it more easier. We need more operators and more FBOs, so that there is a healthy competition that can benefit users”
Extending his complete support for the growth of the General and Business Aviation sector, Shri Jindal appreciated the initiatives taken by the organisers MIU Events and Exhibitions India , and for the pro-active role played by BAAI. He encouraged the industry to deliberate and debate internally, and pursue their objectives relentlessly citing success stories from other countries and regulatory bodies.
Endorsing his views, Shri Bharat Bhushan, Director General; DGCA, Government of India present at the event said, “Tremendous opportunities are available for the growth of the business aviation industry, if we can equip ourselves with conducive policies and grow the sector with compliance of safety and security”
The pledged cheque amount will be handed over at a small ceremony in Shri Jindal‟s office to Capt Karan Singh, Vice President, BAAI.
BAAI is a non-profit organization established with the aim to bring into close
cooperation its members for mutual benefit and industry growth. Its vision is to actively promote the growth, define standards, and to achieve the highest level of safety, efficiency and reliability in the sector.
