New Delhi : To strengthen the Indian maritime domain, the Indian Navy is going to commission the new naval base INS Jatayu on Minicoy Island of Lakshadweep. This event will probably take place on March 4 or 5. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to attend the commissioning.
From this naval base, the activities of Pakistan, Maldives and China can be monitored. Besides, it will be easier to take action against Somalian pirates. During this period, INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant are also going to be present.
On which commanders conference is also expected. The sailors are going to showcase their capabilities and strength during this period. Submarine and Carrier Battle Group will also be displayed. The distance of Maldives from INS Jatayu Naval Base in Minicoy is only 524 kilometers.
As soon as the naval base is built in Minicoy, the activities done by the Chinese Navy around this area will come to an end. Also, the commercial ships going towards Suez Canal and Persian Gulf have to go through the 9 degree channel i.e. Lakshadweep and Minicoy route.
If any ship has to go towards Sunda and Lombak Gulf, then it will have to pass through that ten degree channel i.e. Andaman and Nicobar Islands. After this, there should be strong security and surveillance squad at both the places. Who can give a befitting reply to the enemy if needed.
