Natural farming is the best way
Governor Acharya Devvrat asked newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, Solan Dr. Parvinder Kaushal to prepare a dedicated team of scientists and field officers in the University for systematic and scientific propagation of natural farming practices amongst farmers in the state.
He asked the VC to mobilize the entire scientist community and students in such a mode that it could become popular cultivation practice to trust. He said it is a better option for human health, conservation of natural resources and environment in the country in long run.
"All the Krishi Vigyan Kenders in different parts of the state should become model points, where farmers can easily go and learn the farming practices in natural farming. Farmer's queries and doubts should be clarified at the lowest level by the scientists and officers of agriculture and horticulture department. Continuous technical support and guidelines should flow from the Horticulture University." said the Governor.
The Governor said that natural farming is the best way to double the income of the farmers of the country. He expressed hope that with budgetary support from the Union Government, the concept of natural farming will further spread and bring prosperity to the farmers.
He said that more and more progressive farmers should be involved and mobilized in field for better result and acceptance by farmers at large. Educated youth when trained and given proper guidance can do wonders and create multiple livelihood opportunities.
