Chief Minister Narendra Modi will present awards worth Rs.139.43-crore to the winners of competitions in three categories of ‘Best Gram Panchayat’, ‘Nirmal Gram’ and ‘Swarnim Gram’ held during the state’s golden jubilee celebration at the state-level function at Mahatma Mandir here on November 16, 2011.

The Gujarat Government spokespersons-ministers Jay Narayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel today said that 2,094 prizes worth Rs.86.83-crore will be distributed for competitions for ‘Best Gram Panchayats’ held at the state, district and taluka levels.

The state level first prize is worth Rs.25-lakh, second prize Rs.20-lakh and third prize Rs.15-lakh. The district-level first prize is worth Rs.20-lakh, second prize Rs.10-lakh and third prize Rs.5-lakh. The taluka level first prize is worth Rs.5-lakh, second prize Rs.3-lalh and third prize Rs.2-lakh.

Similarly, they said, 280 prizes worth Rs.5.60-crore will be distributed to winners of ‘Swarnim Gram Panchayats’ at the rate of Rs.2-lakh each, and 4,200 prizes to ‘Nirmal Gram Panchayats’ totaling Rs.42.00-crore.

The Gujarat Government has invited sarpanchs of all the 13,686 gram panchayats and 5,000 delegates of taluka and district talukas at the function.
