It seems that the on going melodrama over Narendra Modi’s nomination as Prime ministerial candidature has taken its toll on Modi’s mind as well. He  was scheduled to launch a book at Ahmedabad Management Association at 6m on Friday, when in Delhi the finest chapter of his life was expected to unfold. Then, he changed his mind and day plan. He will take part in the BJP parliamentary board meeting at 5 pm in Delhi. And be a witness to the big announcement. And try and ensure Lal Krishna Advani doesn’t spoil it all.He is taking the 3pm flight to Delhi. BJP Parliamentary Board, the party’s highest decision making body, is expected to discuss and confirm Modi’s name as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate. The majority in the board support Modi. But L.K. Advani continues to oppose it. It’s not clear whether his mentor and now detractor-in-chief L.K. Advani will be present to record his dissent or stay in sulk at home. Sources say Advani has been persuaded to be present at the meeting and he has put forward a set of conditions.Sources say Modi has been keeping a close eye on the events of the day. When it became clear that things were not going smooth in Delhi, Modi decided to cancel his Ahmedabad engagement. It seems, he won’t be unveiling any book after all. He would instead be present at the meeting that is expected to unveil his name. The dissent drama directed and led by Mr Advani has definitely dented Modi’s image as the undisputed leader of the BJP. While there is a wave in his support among cadres, not all leaders of the party back his elevation to the top. Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi have apparently given in to the inevitable, but both these senior leaders did everything to stop this day from arriving so soon. They still wanted Advani to stand a chance by delaying the coronation. The Congress, however, is experiencing much fun as events took an ugly turn in the main opposition party.
