NaMo Drone Didi Scheme Empowers Women Farmers : The Central Government has initiated the NaMo Drone Didi Scheme, specifically tailored for women farmers belonging to Self Help Groups (SHGs). This groundbreaking scheme aims to equip women farmers with cutting-edge drone technology to revolutionize farming practices and enhance their agricultural productivity.

Bridging the Technological Gap

The Namo Drone Didi Scheme seeks to bridge the technological gap in agriculture by providing free drones to women belonging to SHGs across the nation. With approximately 10 crore women actively engaged in SHGs, this scheme holds the potential to catalyze a transformative shift in agricultural practices, particularly for women farmers.

Substantial Subsidies and Financial Assistance

Under this scheme, a total of 14,500 women self-help groups will benefit from the provision of drones, with the Modi government offering an impressive 80 percent subsidy on the drone’s cost. This substantial subsidy significantly reduces the financial burden on SHGs, making drone technology accessible and affordable for women farmers.

Moreover, to facilitate the procurement process, the remaining 20 percent of the drone’s cost can be availed through a loan, further easing the financial strain on SHGs. Additionally, SHGs will enjoy a 3 percent rebate on interest rates, making the loan repayment process more manageable and financially sustainable.

Comprehensive Training and Skill Development

Recognizing the importance of skill development and capacity building, the Namo Drone Didi Scheme incorporates a comprehensive 15-day training program for women farmers. This training will encompass drone piloting skills for one woman and data analysis and drone maintenance for another, ensuring holistic proficiency in utilizing drone technology effectively.

Leveraging Drone Technology for Agricultural Advancement

The utilization of drones in agriculture presents a myriad of opportunities for enhancing productivity, optimizing resource utilization, and mitigating environmental impact. Under this scheme, drones will be deployed for tasks such as spraying nano fertilizers and pesticides, thereby enabling precision farming practices that yield higher crop yields while minimizing adverse effects on the environment.

Collaborative Implementation with Krishi Vigyan Kendras

To ensure the successful implementation of the Namo Drone Didi Scheme, the Ministry of Agriculture will collaborate closely with Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the country. Leveraging the expertise and infrastructure of KVKs will facilitate seamless execution and widespread adoption of drone technology among women farmers.

Empowering Women Farmers for a Sustainable Future

In conclusion, the NaMo Drone Didi Scheme heralds a new era of empowerment and inclusivity in Indian agriculture. By providing women farmers with access to cutting-edge drone technology, the scheme not only enhances their agricultural productivity and income but also fosters their active participation in the agricultural value chain. With comprehensive training, substantial subsidies, and collaborative implementation, the scheme paves the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future for women farmers across the nation.
