MS Dhoni bats for cause of underprivileged persons
INVC NEWS Pune , The captain of Indian One Day International and Twenty20 cricket team, Mr. M S Dhoni lent his support to the cause of underprivileged persons and work done by Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF), the CSR arm of Finolex Industries ltd. with his presence at the second fundraiser event held in Pune at the J.W. Marriott recently, to raise funds for its many causes. On the occasion, Dhoni’s autographed cricket bat, ball, gloves and India jersey were auctioned to raise funds. Mr. Dhoni also fulfilled the wishes of two children who came from Make-a-wish Foundation with a wish to meet their super hero! Mukul Madhav Foundation is a Pune based Public charitable Trust organization working since 1999 to provide medical and educational assistance to the economically weaker and under privileged in our society. The fundraiser successfully enabled MMF to raise funds, which will be utilized towards providing health and education services to the under privileged and also help assist upgrading and uplifting of schools, institutions and hospital facilities. “We are truly blessed. The open-handedness of our guests is absolutely amazing. The support of all of our guests, sponsors is what made this event such a success,” said Mrs. Ritu Chhabria, Managing Trustee, Mukul Madhav Foundation. “We also feel fortunate to be able to make 2 children from Make-a-wish Foundation wish fulfill to meet their super hero M S Dhoni the Indian cricket team captain. The gala event witnessed the presence of some noted dignitaries including the Guardian Minister of Pune Hon. Girish Bapat, Treasurer BJP, Maharashtra Mrs. Shania N C, Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla, G P Hinduja, P P Chhabria, Dr S B Mujumdar (Founder chairman Symbiosis), Amit Bhosle, Director of Avinash Bhosale Infrastructure Ltd., Sanjiv Bajaj, Adar and Natasha Poonawalla and Yohan Poonawalla. A special mention has to be made to Mr. Piyush Malhotra who took the initiative to choreograph and train these children from institutions of the Blind School (Kothrud and Koregaon Park), handicapped homes (Wanowrie and Nigdi), Teach for India and BIG Ears (Audiology & Speech Therapy Department of K.E.M. Hospital, Pune), who gave breath-taking dance performances. The guests also enjoyed the company of Mr. Cyrus Broacha with his stand-up act. The night ended with an enthralling performance by Kailash Kher and his band Kailasa.
